Remove Date/Time/Author

  1. I'm using the twenty ten theme and have the CSS upgrade - but I can not figure out how to remove the date, time, author, etc from the posts on the front page.

    Appreciate the help!

    The blog I need help with is charactercountsiniowa.wordpress.com.

  2. .entry-meta {
    display:none;
    }
  3. May I ask a follow up?

    Can I also remove the other line of text about the posted category and comments?

  4. .entry-utility {
    display:none;
    }
  5. FANTASTIC! Thanks so much! I should have asked for help earlier!

  6. You're welcome.

  7. I have a similar desire, but can't find .entry-meta or .entry-utility text in my CSS stylesheet. I'm using the Greyzed theme. Thanks.

  8. CSS is theme specific (each author decides what labels they are going to use).

    Unless devblog or hallluke have a bit of voodoo up their sleeves, all I can suggest is the following, which hides everything between the title and the body of the post.

    small {display:none;}

    Author, date, categories and tags all go away.

  9. Which specific bits of the metadata do you want to hide? There might be a way to achieve the effect you're looking for.

  10. Thesacredpath: Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try.

  11. thesacredpath: i am using the "bueno" theme and would like to hide "comments", "categories" and "author" info (even though i have comments turned off) on all posts as well as the "comments are closed" indication at the bottom of each page --are you able to help?

  12. If you have the paid CSS upgrade, this will do it.

    .post-meta {display:none;}

    It cannot be done without the CSS upgrade.

  13. thesacredpath: awesome, i wanted to be sure i could do it before i paid for the upgrade --thank you, i'll give this a try and preview it before, then go ahead with the upgrade. thanks again!

  14. thesacredpath: ok, i got the "comments", "categories" and "author" info removed with that code in preview mode, but what about on the pages i have it just says "comments are closed" at the bottom and i would like to remove that also. any help is greatly appreciated!

  15. thesacredpath: oh, wait, i was able to figure that one out on my own. thanks again.

  16. You're welcome and glad you got the other part figured out.

    I am new to css, and can't for the life of me figure this out. I'm using the The Journalist v1.3 theme, and trying to remove the date/time stamp and the comments, and I can't make a single change. I have the upgrade, and I've just been posting the codes into the empty box trying to add it to my current theme.

    What am I missing?

    Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, it's not recommend that members who do not have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS buy the upgrade because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

    CSS is theme specific here at wordpress.com. Please be patient and consult tutorials found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/#css-help and also this informative article http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/ while waiting for a Volunteer to help you. Best wishes with your CSS editing :)

  19. Hi Caitlin, try the code below, it should remove the comments and meta section from each of your posts. As far as I can tell there's no way to remove the date/time stamp without removing the tags too.

    .meta, .comments p {display:none;}

    I did it! I got the comments section and the time date stamp removed. Thanks very much.

  21. Hi, I am also using twenty-ten and have the same questions. Do I change in the Single post template from:

    <div class="entry-meta">
    <?php twentyten_posted_on(); ?>
    </div><!-- .entry-meta -->

    to:

    <div class="entry-meta">
    <?php twentyten_posted_on(); ?>
    </div><!-- .entry-meta
    (display:none;) -->

    and to remove the utility from:

    <div class="entry-utility">
    <?php twentyten_posted_in();

    to:

    <div class="entry-utility (display:none;)">
    <?php twentyten_posted_in();

    please advise. Many thanks.

  22. Thank you, SacredPath!
