Hi,
Is it possible to remove the 'Home' link from the header or atleast rename 'Home' to something else?

Hi,
Is it possible to remove the 'Home' link from the header or atleast rename 'Home' to something else?
I'm kind of having this same problem also. My blog (singlesatevfree.wordpress.com)has 2 home links in the header. This is because I have a static home page, and have separatly created a page to display for the home. So there is a link for the default home that was already there, and a link for the page home which shows up as my static home page.
So how can I delete the second home?
kenny: there was a previous thread on a similar issue as this, try searching for it? as i recalled if i'm not wrong, matt said that he couldn't do anything about it, but i don't remember why...
drifting: you can't change the name of the 'home' page, but there are other themes which uses the word 'front page' instead, such as cutline and others, if not mistaken.
The home link is hardcoded into most wordpress themes. And since this is a shared environment, if you were able to edit it, you would be removing it for everybody who uses that theme.
Yes i have the same problem, please somebody tell us how to rewrite or remove that page. Thanks
Ummmm ... I don't think you're getting the message here - it's hardcoded into the theme and cannot be removed. If you were able to remove it, you would be removing it for everybody who uses that theme.
@drmike
stop banging your head on the computer screen the noise is deafening :P
Thanks guys. I get the point and I've learned to live with the 'Home' now :)
You're welcome driftingaway.
For those that have two Home links, you can remove the second one by giving that page a 'page parent'. Do this by editing the page and finding the page parent box on the righthand side.

@ sussexmuddyarse
You're 100% correct and I'm kicking myself for completely forgetting this.
Thanks so much for posting.
And, it's in the FAQs too {she said red-faced} http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/i-have-2-home-page-links/
If you have the CSS upgrade #navHome {display:none} will do it.
OT: I do not know what some folk here are talking about with their *hardcoding*. :)
There is at least one theme that the "HOME" tab is hardcoded into the theme and cannot be removed is all I think.

No problem Timethief :)
Also, if a mod reads this, I'd be grateful if they could stick a line through the first solution I mentioned in the other thread as obviously its incorrect and some might not notice my later comments further down about it not working.
Thanks.
@atthe404
What I thought it meant is that the coding the designer used in the underlying template is not accessible to us on this multi-user blogging platform so we cannot change it. Am I wrong/confused?

I emailed them ages ago about updating the FAQ, looks like they finally got round to it!
I have changed your other post. That is what you had in mind?
Trent
It is hardcoded timethief and using atthe404's CSS hide solution with a CSS upgrade is the only way to get rid of it.
Trent
@tt. Yes and no. We can't change the template. But that doesn't mean we have to display everything in it. If it is not displayed then for all practical purposes - it ain't there.
Thanks. I did understand. I just wasn't expressing myself properly.
