   You are not able to remove the sidebar from specific pages. Most themes display the sidebar on each post and page of the blog.

   it'd possible to hide it with the css upgrade, though.

   And there are themes which only display the sidebar on the main page, not on individual posts/pages, so you could choose one of those. Or choose one with a footer instead of a sidebar if you prefer.

   Thanks for the quick replies. Which themes would allow me to create a page without a sidebar (even if the main page has to have one)?

   Sunburn is the only one I know of that has the sidebar only on the first page. It is a 2 column with a black background.

   Another way to hide it is having just a single widget: an empty Text or RSS widget (provided your theme is widget-aware and has no built-in search box).
