I think this is very important. The huffington post has the best example of a nice comment reply system but here is a plug in i found on the web.

i am hoping to create a site that will have lots of comments from students and an organized discussion is very important. also more than one conversation may be occurring at any given time.

Threaded comments is coming to wordpress.COM, but it will not be until probably around December of this year. It's in the next big upgrade.
By the way, the plugin you have referenced is only for use on self-hosted blogs and cannot be used here at the wordpress.COM free hosting service.
BTW - the blog in your user name is not hosted here at wordpress.COM. If you have a blog here, you should consider updating that link so that volunteers in the forum will be able to help you should you have questions.
