request for DARK photoblog suitable theme

    Would it be possible for wordpress.com com to add a pre-made theme which might be particularly suitable for a photoblog? Most of the existing theme are way too narrow to accomodate a reasonably sized photo.

    Here's what I have in mind:

    1)Preferably a ONE column theme (or two if the non-photo column is skinny) which would accomodate an 800 PIXELS WIDE photo. If 800 pixels wide is a problem, I could deal with 750 or 700 pixels. Anything less than that is too small IMHO.

    2)A primarily DARK theme (black, charcoal etc.) would be best.

    3)A SIMPLE, CLEAN looking theme -- one WITHOUT frou-frou like flowers, oceans, rainbows etc. -- would be fabulous.

    4)I've had problems with themes looking OK in firefox and not OK in internet explorer. Or vice versa. Anything to avoid this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    During weekdays and work hours for Support please send staff your theme requests and reasons for requesting that they be adapted to run on wordpress.com software.

    If you think wordpress has theme designers on staff then you do not understand the situation. Themes under GPL that have been originally designed by independent designers to run on wordpress.org software can be adapted to run on our wordpress MU multi-user software. This is how we come to have themes that we can use here -> Presentation -> Themes.

    If you find a theme you like here then you can request that it be adapted to run on our software. http://themes.wordpress.net/

    I have seen comments from the wordpress folks saying "you wanted it, you've got it" when they added more themes. So I POLITELY asked if a photoblog theme was possible. If you want to direct me to the correct place to ask, that's fine. But I'm not interested in your snotty, condescending comments -- you especially timethief.

    If you can't answer a question politely, then why don't you simply do the world a favor and STFU.

    Don't like my answer? Well take a number and stand in line to register your complaint. Like I care. Ignoramus.

    I strongly believe that my answer was both polite and informative. It's unfortunate that you did not receive it as it was delivered. You may use this link during support hours (weekedays 9 - 5 PM Pacific) to make your theme request http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

    Alternatively you can use the "support" button on the top right hand corner of any admin/dashboard side blog page to achieve the same contact with staff.

    Take note that staff have requested that links to themes being suggested for adaptation as well as your reasons for requesting them be included in your request.

    P.S. Your personal attack, name calling and obscenity use has been reported. There is no tolerance for such behaviour here at wordpress.com.

    honey, why not grab a theme and simply change the css to make the colors dark?
    Otherwise, you may consider buying a custom blog theme. Prices are about $240 or $250 (although I've seem some companies charge outrageous prices for a theme like $1,000).

    (1) In the very first answer to this blogger ellaella provided the support link that can be used to contact staff and make a theme request.

    (2) Yes the css upgrade is also an option that could be pursued, provided the blogger has experience with css editing and is prepared to pay for the upgrade and do the work himself.

    Then any of the themes found here -> Presentation -> Themes can be placed in Sandbox and css edited so the blog appearance is changed but the underlying html cannot be edited and that would be required to meet the requirements that the blogger posted above. http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/10/18/about-the-custom-css-upgrade/

    Also the blogger asked for the theme to be "pre-made" to his specifications and I've never heard of that happening at worpress.com

    (3) The blogger is free to choose to move to hosted blogging at any time. Hosting is inexpensive and wordpress has another option.

    There are free templates available from wordpress.org (note the link to the theme viewer I posted above) and those templates can be hacked to suit.

    (5) Personal attacks, name calling (ignoramus) and telling a voluteer providing accurate information to shut the f**k up is not going to either change the situation or, impress any other unpaid volunteer answering forum questions. Moreover, I guarantee that it's not going to impress our Moderator or staff either.

    Dianellys -- Thanks for your suggestion. Something like that is a possibility. But rather than pay to alter CSS (I believe wordpress will charge), I might as well do it over at blogger for free. Still, I appreciate your friendly response.

    Are you for real? First you insult ME with you condescending post, then you have the chutzpah to threaten me when I point it out. Now THAT'S priceless.

    Dude, feel free to call in the black helicopters and yank down my little blog. Good thing that I haven't invested much time in getting it up to snuff over here at wordpress.com. Here...I'm more than happy to give you the sleeves off my vest. Take it, it's all yours.

    Thanks so much for letting us know that you are reluctant to pay 4 cents per day to achieve a css edited blog that meets your needs ($15 per blog per year). That revelation certainly saves me from having to do a lot of typing.

    And, who knows? Perhaps your "potty mouth" and aggressive judgmental attitude will be better received by the support staff at Blogger.

    If anyone can recommend a good GPL'd photoblog theme, I'd like to hear it. Suggestions to support, marked "attention Alex" please.
