I don't know how, but I fouled up the appearance of the theme on my homepage. On individual posts, the theme looks exactly as it should, but on the homepage it is all one color. I tried playing with the background color, but it just changes the entire background to the chosen color -- I cannot restore the original combination of colors. HELP!!

That's because you've got an unclosed div tag in your latest post. If you know what that means, you can edit the post in the HTML editor and correct it. Otherwise go to Settings>Writing, tick the option "WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically", click Save Changes, then make any insignificant change to the post (e.g. add then remove a space) and click Update.
