Reverse order of posts

1. Hi Can anyone tell me how to reverse the order of posts so that oldest is showing first? Many thanks

The blog I need help with is tamarahockey.wordpress.com.

2. Sorry but that's not possible here. Blogs are essentially a reverse chronological order publishing tool wherein the most recent published post will display on top. You cannot change this order on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. It's designed to serve your visitors as they come to read the most recent posts and will not be inclined to trawl through hundreds of posts to locate it.

See here for the option of creating a book-like structure > http://en.support.wordpress.com/write-a-book/ Perhaps that will work for you.

Or you could use a single sticky post as an index page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

Or you can falsify every date-stamp before publishing.

3. Thanks for your reply - very helpful. Think I'll give putting up an index page a go. While it was being updated daily it was fine to have newest post first, but now it makes much more sense for new readers to have the first post first.

4. You're welcome and best wishes with this.

5. Hi Again I am creating an index page - how do I make links to each post?

6. Just the normal way. Copy the link in the browser bar, go to the Index page, type in the title of the post, highlight it, click the Link button, put in the URL, click done.

7. This is the guide for creating links in posts and pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

This is the general link model:
Highlighted anchor text here
This is the visual result - it's not actually linked here in the forum.
Highlighted anchor text here

1. Enter the relevant descriptive anchor text you want to link to first. Note that "here" is not a good choice.
2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don't highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link.

8. Opted for a quick solution - [archive]
so index is there, but again in reverse. Thanks again for your help!

9. Use the display posts shortcode because you can choose either ascending or descending order for up to 100 posts.

10. Much better, thanks

11. You're welcome and best wishes. :)
