Rookie with a vain search engine question

    Hi there - wondering if there is a window of time between one's setting up of their blog and when the blog appears in Google, et al, searches. I've checked the option that makes my content available to search engines, but no dice. Any ideas?

    Here's a bit more information that may be useful.

    Bog promotion - getting the attention of the search engine spiders - It is said that Google's directory comes straight from the DMOZ Directory so look into getting your blog site listed in it. The DMOZ is commonly known as the Open Directory Project and it has strict guidelines as to who is listed. Submission info can be found here.

    You should *not* submit your site to Google, Yahoo, and MSN more than once every 30 days. MSN will seldom visit a website unless invited by submission. Yahoo frequents more than MSN but less than Google but will dramatically increase visits after submission. Although Google says that manually submitting your pages to their index is unnecessary, they have an interface for you to do so. But don't be surprised if it takes months for Google to acknowledge your site's existence.

    "If your site has been accepted into the Open Directory, it may take anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as AOL Search, Google, Netscape Search, Yahoo Search, and hundreds of other sites. We make updates of the data available weekly, but each partner has their own update schedule."

    I am a DMOZ editor for some of the categories and this link will help you describe your site in a way that will help you get approval faster.. but currently there is a problem with editing on the site. I am sure it will be resolved and things will get back to normal.

    I don’t know why, but Google seems to index my posts very quickly, often by the next day. I just figured they crawled WordPress frequently or something. Or maybe they just can’t resist my riveting writing hehe

    Google is glitchy. They haven't indexed anything I've done since October 1. Strangeness. Nonetheless, congrats with a double side of envy.

    Boles, that's the blogsearch. Google has stated that the blogsearch is seperate from the standard search engine.

    And don't get me started about DMOZ.

    There have been reports from the end of November that Google Blog Search results are slowly being merged into the big search engine returns.

    It makes sense to search everything in one place, I suppose, even if different collection methods are used:
