A good few years back i used to work for Royal Mail, when there was still such a thing as a second delivery. Everything at the delivery office used to get delivered on the day it arrived at the local sorting/delivery office. Ever since royal mail changed the working practices things have gone from bad to worse in my opinion. To convince me even more of this my mum sent out a birthday and xmas card at the same time from a main post office in Birmingham, she sent them both by 1st class post. It was my birthday on Dec 4th and my birthday card arrived on the 3rd. The xmas card that was sent the same day and by 1st class post arrived 9 days later. How the Royal Mail have the cheek to keep upping the postage costs for such a pathetic service i just dont know. The cards were posted in Birmingham, and the destination was Leicester. Im not athletic and im not that fit, but i could have walked the distance involved in far less a time than it took for the delivery of the xmas card, and the xmas postal rush hasnt even started yet. I would dread to think of how many cards are going to be backlogged over xmas if people go by royal mails suggested last poting dates. If your lucky, you might just get them in time for new year.
