I've had the RSS widget on my blog for years with no problem, but suddenly (for the last two days) it has stopped working and says the feed is probably down.
Any suggestions?

I'm using a widget just called "RSS" (not "RSS Links") and it has the link: http://haikugirl.wordpress.com/blog/ which I have not changed (and it was working before). Sorry to be dumb, but do I need to change this link to: http://haikugirl.wordpress.com/feed/?

Go to appearance > widgets and make sure that in the "enter the RSS feed URL here" section that it has this URL and then click the save button.

Thanks, in advance, for being patient while you wait for Staff to respond. As most support staff are attending a workshop those who are "holding the fort" (so to speak) are extremely busy.
Funny, I see your feed just fine.
Looking at the feed validation report though it appears like you have some errors in one of your posts that is probably killing your feed. Feeds are finicky. It looks like it is in this post: http://haikugirl.wordpress.com/2011/08/06/food-and-drink-at-hyper-japan/ .
Go to settings > writing and select "WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically" and then click "save changes."
Now, open the above post in the editor, switch from the visual tab to the HTML tab (waiting for the page to refresh) and then switch back to the visual tag (again waiting for it to refresh), and then click "update post." Then use the "is my blog working" link timethief referenced above to see if the feed is now working. It may take a few minutes for the feed to update.
That's so strange! I noticed some funny text appearing on that post but couldn't see why when I looked at the HTML.I did exactly what you have suggested last night and it didn't fix it. I'll try again now, just in case.

Just did everything you said. The funny bits of text on that post have gone, but the feed still appears to be down. Perhaps it will fix itself in a bit...

I think I've fixed that part now, so maybe the feed will fix itself? I did what the sacredpath suggested.

Found a work-around by using the "Recent Posts" widget instead! Thanks all for your help! :)

The feed widget can take a little while to update and might not update till you publish another post.
