Rubric tagline not showing. Why?

  1. I have read all the threads, now closed, regarding the missing tagline on Rubric theme. Including the admonitions regarding double posting. One of the many reasons I picked Rubric as my theme was the the fact that it indeed had a tagline showing in the design. There is also in the the set up page a place to change the title, AND to change/add a tagline. So, presumably the designer intended that it was to be a part of the design--without the need for CSS modification. None of the answers in any of the posts addressed the problem as they all shot beyond the mark. It is not imperative that I have a tagline, but inasmuch as it was obviously designed to be there; I think one ought to be able to make it work. So, what's the answer.

  2. Would you mind posting your blog address? Thanks.

Rubric does not now and never has had a tagline. If you would like to display one please type it into a text widget and place it at the top of your sidebar.

Thesacredpath's technical explanation in that thread is also valid for this case.

  5. For deltafoxtrot: blog address is http://hkeyton.wordpress.com/

For rideatmoonlight: I repeat; the fact that it indeed had a tagline showing in the design. There is also in the the set up page a place to change the title, AND to change/add a tagline. So, presumably the designer intended that it was to be a part of the design--without the need for CSS modification.

  6. No, I've had Dusk and Sandbox neither of which display a tagline and the set-up page for all themes is the same, with a place for the tagline, even though many themes do not display it. If you Google yourself, you'll find that the tagline shows up even if it's not on your theme.

  7. To be more specific on raincoaster's point: Although you can set the tagline as a general option from the admin area, Rubric and other themes don't use it in the header. If you don't want to switch themes your best alternative is to go by rideatmoonlight's advice.

  8. Here's what's odd. I just tried Rubric on my test blog. The tagline doesn't show on the blog. In Presentation>header image the tagline shows and there's an option to hide text. Clicking that button did nothing. There's also an option to change the header text color. That did change, as did the headlines and blogroll links. When I clicked on the button to restore the original image and color, the color did not revert. (I hadn't changed the image.)

So perhaps hkeyton saw his tagline at presentation>header image. I understand his frustration.

  9. I thank you all for your thoughts. I like the Rubric design--nice and clean. The tagline is not all that important to me, so I don't feel the need to place it in the side bar. My frustration was that, as ellaella commented, I saw it in the design when I selected it; there was a place and instructions as to what to enter in the box, ergo, I assumed that it was supposed to be there and it wasn't showing up. I made a further assumption that I must be doing something wrong, or it was not functioning properly and wanted to correct the matter.

All else seems to be working so I'll just live without the tagline. Thanks again for all your help and I guess I'll consider the matter resolved.
