Seeing if I can retrieve my web site mikessdesk.com a site hosted by hostgator

  1. recently I lost my web site, it was a transfer from wordpress.com to wordpress.org and it expired without me knowing about it

The blog I need help with is mikecsmith.wordpress.com.

  2. http://mikessdesk.com/ - is hosted here - looks like your domain has expired - content is safe

Renew the domain name registration and domain mapping

Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades

You need to be logged in as the EXACT owner of an upgrade to renew it - is there another account you might have used to buy the upgrades?

I will flag this for staff attention in case you need more help

  3. Do you mean the custom domain expired? Then simply try to buy it again from the dashboard of your WP.com blog, or try buying it from another domain sales company.

  4. You were given the correct answer a week ago also

    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-do-i-get-my-expired-domain-back?replies=6

Searching Google cache shows you are hosted here - if you really are hosted at Host Gator you need to get your content from them not WordPress.COM

  5. Thank you Auxclass, my problem is where do I get this dashboard from, nowhere can I find http://mikessdesk.com to apply my password and make payment.

  6. https://mikessdesk.wordpress.com/wp-login.php

you always work in the base blog dashboard not the mapped domain name (mikessdesk.com)

    Primary Blog is Set

mikessdesk.com is set as the primary domain for mikessdesk.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.

  7. It's not happening, this is the message I get:Oh no! This domain mikessdesk.com expired 15 days ago!

Please contact the owner of this website and ask them to renew the domain. Don't worry, you'll still be able to view the site at this web address: mikessdesk.wordpress.com.
And no it won't let me view mikessdesk it just drives me to another site I have mikescsmith. wordpress.com and if I try to upgrade from there it will only do it for mikecsmith. Am I lost or what

  8. Hi Mike,

So the issue you are seeing is likely because the "mikecsmith" WordPress.com account you are posting from (and are likely logged into when trying to renew) is not the owner of that domain upgrade. So you are not going to be able to renew it.

You'll need to log into the account that owns the domain. Could you have had a different account in the past? Or somehow set up a second WordPress.com account at some point?
