Selling direct ads on a WordPress.com-hosted blog?

  1. Is it allowed to sell ads on a blog hosted at WordPress.com, one-on-one, directly? The support docs notes that users can't run ads from ad networks, but if a person wants to pay to have a banner ad manually added to a blog, is that okay?

This blog sells ads this way:

The blog I need help with is ingintems.wordpress.com.

  2. That is NOT okay. No blogger-initiated advertising of any kind, whether networks or not, is allowed on non-VIP WordPress.com blogs. And it costs $30,000 a year to get a VIP blog.

Ads will get your blog suspended.

  3. The linked blog has been selling ads for years and he's encouraged people to blog and find advertisers so thats why I ask. He has ads from Hilton hotels and car rentals and local businesses, I think I can find revenue in my small town. I want to do something like him but don't know how to set up my own blog. Maybe he is not hosted here?

  4. I think I figured it out, Dreamhost has hosted WordPress and they say I can run ads.

  5. You sell ads on http://ingintems.wordpress.com/ and your blog will be suspended

  6. No dont worry. I wont sell ads on my bog here at WordPress.COM. I was just confused because he was.
