SemPress Theme not showing sidebar in Safairi on IPad

Hi, I'm currently using the SemPress theme on my blog, The Bumbling Bookworm, and I'm having trouble with the theme in Safari on iPad, as the sidebar isn't showing up.

It's showing the sidebar when it's in the Customise mode, see here, but when I go to view the webpage normally on my iPad it looks like this. It's also doing the same on my iPhone, with the sidebar down the bottom - I have mobile view turned on but this makes no difference whether it's on or off, all it does is have excerpts of my posts on the home page instead of the full post. My understanding (limited though it may be!) is that the sidebar widgets usually don't show up at all on the iPhone on mobile view.

I've also had the same problem with the Truly Minimal theme. I was previously using the Grisaille theme but I changed from that because I didn't like the permanent excepts on the home page - that theme, however, had no problems with the sidebar showing up on the iPad.

Please help! What am I doing wrong?

The blog I need help with is bumblingbookworm.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi Bernadette - I see you've changed to Adelle now, and I see your sidebar on my iPad. Are you still having this problem?

How the sidebar displays on different devices with responsive themes varies. It looks like SemPress shows the sidebar at the bottom of the post flow. On mobile screens, sidebars are often meant to appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

Let me know if you have further questions!

PS - I love your social media icons! So pretty.

Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner - I'm not having the problem anymore re sidebar now that I've switched to Adelle - I realised it wasn't what I was doing that was the problem (for once!)... I'm such a newbie :) Thanks for getting back to me though, much appreciated.

I can't take credit for the social media icons, they're the wonderful work of Pancake Ninja - they're very pretty!
