Separating out blogging topics?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I'm having a really hard time finding it.

Basically, I want a central database where I can keep blog posts and pictures from all the places I've travelled. I would like these to be separated into different pages, so I can have a Paris page, a Peru page, etc., and on each page have separate posts and pictures.

I gather that pages are not meant for posts but for static, unchanging descriptions. Is there, then, any way to separate out the topics that I want in different posts over time, without having them all in a chronological single mess?

    Thanks for any help.

The blog I need help with is shannonmontgomery.wordpress.com.

  2. Categories are the best way to do thing, and if you wish, you can even have subcategories (example: Category France with subcategory Paris, etc.). With the categories widget in your sidebar people can then click on the individual categories or sub categories to see a listing of posts assigned to that particular category/subcategory. See http://support.wordpress.com/posts/post-categories/ and http://support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/ .

If you wish to control things further, you can set a static front page and then in the body of that page put text links to all of those categories. See http://support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ .
