Set category page as main page ?

  1. Hello,
I'm looking for a way to change my "home page" to show certain content.

Is there a way that i can set a category as the main page?
for example, when someone goes to http://www.dearidiot.com, it will show http://www.dearidiot.com/?cat=29 as the first page.

    OR

is there a way that i can publish a post but *not* have it show on the blog roll, but still accessible if you navigate to that post's category page ?

    example:
i want only "stories" blogroll, but I also post "jokes", and i dont want the jokes to show up on the main blogroll, but you can still click the "jokes" link to view them

  3. Friend IRL has solved my question after he seen me refreshing this page every 5 minutes.

the answer to my question is solved by a plugin called "Frontpage Manager"

it allowed me to set my homepage to ONLY display a ceterain category. freaking awesome.

ill leave this post here for others to see, if they have the same problem

  4. As the supportbot suggested, you were in the wrong forum. You are self-hosted and need to inquire over at wordpress.ORG which is where self-hosted wordpress blogs are supported.

We cannot use plugins here at wordpress.COM, so we know nothing about them.
