share vs like

    I'm new to this and NOT good with technology... so all of it's been a learning experience. Recently I now have the Share button at the bottom of each post, but there is no Like button. I know the like button is suppose to be automatically added to all worldpress posts, but mine is not showing up. There is currently a box at the end of each post with a plus sign and the word "Share." There is no "Like" button. I've gotten emails telling me that people have liked some of my posts, but no box, and no avatars at the bottom of posts. I've checked all my settings and think I have it right... any thoughts out there? I'm grateful for any help! But please speak in slow easy sentences and with clear instructions... I am really that bad at tech! :-/

    Hi. If you are talking about the WordPress.com like button, it is there alright, but only when you view an individual post (that's the way it's designed). Example:

    Do you want a Facebook Like button? You can enable that under you Sharing options on the dashboard.

    thanks airodyssey! I see it now... it just isn't all that visible or noticeable, like the sharing button is. Is there a way to have your Like button near the Sharing? or make it more visable?

    Raincoaster, when I read the material about the FB like option/link, it looks to me like it will simply take the person hitting said like button to my FB page... something I don't want. Also, the FB button seemed to require an URL that is only available to "businesses, celebrities, etc"... of course, I may have missed this one all together as well! :-/

    Is there a way to have your Like button near the Sharing? or make it more visable?

    No. We cannot change where it's positioned or the spacing between sharing icons.

    No. The Badge will do that. The Widget will do that. The Like button just posts to FB that they liked a page.

    So do you go to Sharing on the dashboard and drag FB icon to box for your page? I have a FB/email share button now and the wordpress Like button... how do I add the FB like? Again, terrible at this tech, but working to learn! Thanks for the help.
