Sharing via email, print etc don't work on detail pages when not logged in

    Hello -

    Log out of wordpress.com

Go to http://blog.cardinalnewmansociety.org/ - the share buttons function as designed.

Next go to a post detail, and try to click the email / print / dropdown buttons. The page reloads / doesn't function correctly.

    Any ideas? Thanks

The blog I need help with is blog.cardinalnewmansociety.org.

  2. They all work for me and I'm using Firefox 11. These are the troubleshooting steps we take whenever any issues like this arise:
clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
confirming third party cookies is enabled http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
    confirming JavaScript is enabled http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654
confirming Flash is updated http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and if required installing the latest version of Flash http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
resetting your router and modem and rebooting your computer
then logging in using the secure https:// log-in see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
    trying another browser

If those do not work we need to know how are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

And exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

Thanks timethief, but I have tried it in Firefox 11, Chrome 18, IE 8 / 9, Safari 5.1.5, Opera 11.62. It doesn't have to do with flash, javascript, my UA, my ISP, my router, etc. Other people experienced it and reported it to me.

Make sure you are logged out of wordpress.com and go to

    http://blog.cardinalnewmansociety.org/2012/04/17/archbishop-chaput-on-urgency-to-witness-to-faith

Click the email icon, the page will reload instead of showing the email message box.

If you log back in, or if you use the homepage, it will work correctly. It only happens on the single post pages when you are logged out.

Here is a demo video I made:

  4. Hello there,
I logged out and found the social networking buttos do work but like you said the email and print buttons don't. You also have the option of dragging any of the services into the Hidden Services section. Any services placed there will be hidden and will only be visible when the reader hovers over a Share button. Would you like to try putting them behind the Share button and see if the buttons work when you do that?

Thanks timetheif, I just tried that as well. I moved all the links into the hidden area, and then out again, in various combinations. The dropdown for the hidden buttons is broken as well (like the email + print buttons)

  6. I'm flagging this thread for Staff attention.

    Great, thank you

  8. Hi, that is very odd. It seems to be either specific to your blog or specific to your theme. I can't reproduce the issue on my test blog.

Would you please temporarily switch to Twenty Eleven just to see if the issue still occurs, then switch back and let us know?

    See http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/text-widget-not-saved?replies=1
both are Sandbox 1.6.2 blogs with CSS editing.

  10. Hm, I don't think they're related, but thanks for letting me know.

I just tried the twenty eleven theme and removed all my custom CSS - still the same behavior

  12. Hm, that's no good.

    We're looking into this.

  13. You're all fixed up now.

    Sorry about that!
