Show author on posts

  1. We're using a customized Coraline theme for this blog and there will be multiple contributors so I really need the author of each post to show up. If there is only a CSS way to do this, please send me set by set instructions.

    Thanks!
    Anna

The blog I need help with is blog.hennepintheatretrust.org.

  2. Hi Anna. At the moment, is there more than one person with posts under their name?

  3. Not yet, but there will be soon. When there are multiple authors with published posts will the by lines appear?

  4. That's correct, provided they are added as official users of the blog and assigned Author roles. Regardless of the theme, bylines will only display now if there are at least two authors who both have at least one published post in the blog. WordPress.com Changes Bylines for Authors

  5. @hennepintheatretrust

Did you read the link from airodyssey?
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/

Byline displayed on single post view, but not on main posts page
in Autofocus, Chaotic Soul, Chunk, Coraline, Fauna, Nishita, NotesIL, Oulipo, Pilcrow, Structure, Vermilion Christmas.

Whether a link to an author is displayed or not is dependent on the theme.

You could also use categories to allow your readers to look at only one author's posts by making a category for "author 1" "author 2" "author 3" and use either a category widget or a custom menu.

  6. @timethief does the same rule apply to users that have contributor roles and not author roles? Sorry for the confusion- I'm new to this.

  7. Contributors do not have Author "bylines" and never have as they aren't Authors. See here please > User Roles
