Showing the date below the title of my post in Twenty-Twelve theme

  1. Is there a way to have the date showing underneath the title of my posts in the Twenty-Twelve theme? Would appreciate any assistance with the CSS necessary to do this.

    The blog I need help with is buddhachicandbuttercream.com.

  2. Here you go, but there is a but... The "but" is that if your post titles go to two or three lines (long titles) they will stomp all over the date. This is because we have to use position absolute for the date in order to move it up there. This may also be an issue on smart phones.

    .entry-date {
    position: absolute;
    top: 35px;
    left: 0;
    }

    .site-content article {
    position: relative;
    }
  3. The date disappeared but did not move to underneath the title. Could it be because the "Leave a Reply" is there? Can these two things swap places? Again, I appreciate your help.

  4. I just tried the code above again, and it worked and put the date between the title and the leave a reply link. Can you try it again?

  5. Thank you. I tried it again and discovered that leaving previous code to hide tags etc below my post is what is causing the date not to show. If you check it, the Leave a Reply (which is odd, I would prefer Leave a Comment) is below my post now, the tags are hidden, but now my date is hidden also. Any further suggestions? By the way, you have been extremely helpful, proof of why CSS should be left to the experts!

  6. Try adding this:

    .entry-meta {
    	visibility: hidden;
    }

    Then find the ".entry-date" block in your custom CSS and add this:

    visibility: visible;

    Note that you may also need to add a negative bottom margin for posts if you want to get rid of the leftover space.

  7. Worked perfect! Thank you. One quick question, when I preview my post for tomorrow, I don't see the Facebook, Pin It or Like buttons below my post. I cannot recall if they show up after I post or also when I preview? Are they part of the Meta I am making invisible?

  8. I see that you have one recent draft and the "Show likes" and "Show sharing buttons" options are both checked for that post, so I do think the sharing buttons will show up after you publish the post.

  9. Thanks again! Everything looks good now.
