Sidebar not visable on some computers

  1. The sidebar isn't visible for all my readers. I use Twenty Eleven.

The blog I need help with is goodlifenoalcohol.wordpress.com.

  2. Some browsers are more finicky than others, but this is most often caused by an open HTML tag in one of your posts.

Go to settings > writing and select "WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically" and then click "save changes."

Now, starting with your latest post, open it in the editor, switch from the visual tab to the HTML tab (waiting for the page to refresh) and then switch back to the visual tag (again waiting for it to refresh), and then click "update post." Check your blog and if it is back to normal, you are golden. If not, open the next post and do the same thing till it goes back to normal.

Also note that on single post pages (after clicking a comment link, read more, or title of a post) no sidebar is displayed. That is how the theme was designed.

  3. I think that fixed it. Thanks so much!

In the future in the event you do copy and paste content from anywhere else please note you must use either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-textthis entry

  5. You are welcome, and that change at settings > writing should keep that from happening in the future.

I'm having trouble with 2011 on the iPad. Have tried the above and my site looks fine in Safari on a Mac but on the iPad the sidebar is pushed to the bottom. I have tried with mobile themes enabled and disabled, and I don't use the iPad on swipe thing.

  7. I'm going to be of no help with the iPad since I don't have one. I need to get one for developmental purposes as I've been mostly flying blind these past several months without one and just using the simulator.

On my Mac with Safari set to user agent: iPad the site linked to your username looks fine. The sidebar is right where it should be.

Thanks thesacredpath. You should get one for development, they can do unexpeted things at times! Phoned a very HTML and CSS savvy friend who couldn't work it out either. He wouldn't believe it until he looked as he's always insisted Safari wil display the same on Mac, iPad and iPhone. My own CSS is too limited at the moment so have gone back to Coraline theme and done some minor tinkering instead of the big change I'd planned.
