Sidebar won't add to home page

  1. I just created a new blog yesterday.

Today as i attempt to customize it and make it more user-friendly, i attempted to add sidebars but after adding widgets to sidebar, the sidebar doesn't show up on the page?

    I'm using the Columnist theme

The blog I need help with is jamiehansonnto.wordpress.com.

  2. Your theme description is here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/the-columnist/

    Widget Areas
Four widget areas are provided enabling you to add your own custom content directly below the content area in single posts and pages. Widgets will not appear in any template where multiple posts are displayed.

Anything you want to do such as moving any theme elements around and or adding this or that is not possible without a custom design upgrade and may not be possible with it.

  3. If you want a conventional style blog with a sidebar then choose another theme ie. a two column theme. There are 192 Two Columns WordPress Themes > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/two-columns/
