Sight theme: post slider problems

  1. The width of the post slider is not steady, as it used to be. It varies for each post. Another problem is that the arrows (right and left) don't work anymore in order to show previous and next post. Whether one clicks the left or the right arrow it has the same effect: it always goes to next post. Also after one has clicked an arrow, the post slider stops.
    Thank you

The blog I need help with is eadikigoroi.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,
Will you please post into this thread tagged for Staff help http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/sight-theme-featured-slider-problem?replies=8 so we can keep all of those with the same issues with the Sight theme together?

  3. I did that already. Thank you!

  4. Good. :)

  5. Hi there thanks for reporting these issues. I appreciate issues unrelated to the gap at the bottom of the slider to be here in their own thread, so I can look at them separately.

    When you say:

The width of the post slider is not steady, as it used to be. It varies for each post.

...do you mean that the width of the image within the post slider isn't the same from featured post to featured post? Could you please confirm what you meant?

Were your featured images cropped before to make them all the same size in the slider?

Whether one clicks the left or the right arrow it has the same effect: it always goes to next post.

I see what you mean - I've reported this to our developers so they can have a look.

Also after one has clicked an arrow, the post slider stops.

I haven't been able to replicate this. Do you mean that you're only able to click the button once, and then no more after that?

  6. The big gap is gone and thank you for that! That's what I was trying to explain when I wrote about "the width", because the gap varied from featured post to featured post. There is still a small gap to featured posts with a very small featured image. I don't crop the featured images in order to make them all the same size in the slider. About the last issue, what I meant is that, one may click the arrows and go to another featured post (as many times as one wants), but after that, the post slider stops moving on its own (automatically) as it should. Thank you in advance for your attention and help!

  7. Thanks for clarifying. :-)

There is still a small gap to featured posts with a very small featured image.

Yes, and I think that's normal. For those posts, if you re-upload a featured image that's a minimum of 290px high, the gap should go away.

About the last issue, what I meant is that, one may click the arrows and go to another featured post (as many times as one wants), but after that, the post slider stops moving on its own (automatically) as it should.

So just to confirm - that's not a bug, right?

    Thanks!

  8. Ok I understand, I'll do that, although I think that previously, the width of the yellow background was the same for all featured posts.
The second and the last issues - problems didn't exist before. The post slider worked fine. They appeared the same time with the gap. At least, that's when I noticed for the first time. Thank you again. :-)

  9. Hi there, to make sure I understand you 100%, would you mind taking a screenshot of one or two of the posts where you still see a gap i, so I can be sure what the issue is?

Here's a guide on how to make a screenshot, if you're not sure: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload the screenshot - in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF - in your Media Library so I can see it.

    Regarding the other two issues:

    1)

Whether one clicks the left or the right arrow it has the same effect: it always goes to next post.

I've reported this bug to our developers and will keep you posted here, as I mentioned earlier.

    2)

About the last issue, what I meant is that, one may click the arrows and go to another featured post (as many times as one wants), but after that, the post slider stops moving on its own (automatically) as it should.

I'm still not quite clear on whether this is a bug, and how it differs from the expected behaviour. If it is a bug, it might be related to the first issue above. How about we wait until that one's fixed, and see whether that resolves issue #2 as well? Does that sound good?

  10. It is not such a big problem. I'll change the size of the small featured images and it will look fine.
About the last problem: The post slider previously kept moving on its own (automatically) after the clicks. Now it stops completely at the post one has chosen. Anyway, I believe you are right and that the two problems are related, so ofcourse I can wait. It sounds good! :-)

  11. Hi there,

The slider navigation issue has now been fixed and it should work just fine now.

    Cheers,

    Thomas

  12. Thanks a lot! It is working! Thank you for your help :-)

  13. Great, glad to hear it!
