Site stats are not updating correctly

  1. Hello,

I have had a reoccurring issue of my site stats not updating. The reason I know the numbers are incorrect is because I will receive emails of visitors liking my posts but the stat number will not increase. In addition, when you look at what pages receive views, it does not show the page(s) the visitors liked, ultimately not showing they visited the page that the liked. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

    Thank you for your time,

  2. Likes are misleading - forget about them. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" your posts in several locations without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. Those who have username accounts only but no blog can become followers and click the "like" button.

  3. P.S. I forgot to say that I have reduced my RSS Feeds on this page > Settings > Reading to "summary" from "full text" to compel followers to click into my blog to read the full posts and create a page views stats when doing so.
For each article in a feed, show
    _Full text
    _Summary

The other benefit of "summary" RSS Feeds is that I don't have to waste my time chasing down content thieves and making DMCA complaints to have my stolen content removed from splogs.

  4. Thank you for your help! I like your suggestion about changing RSS to summary postings, I just went ahead and changed that setting :).

  5. Good for you and you're welcome. :)

  6. @timethief - Will making that change affect email subscribers? I've had people specifically request that I keep full-text in emails.
