Site Stats tracking my own visits

  1. I have been working on trying out themes, tinkering with them, moving widgets around, and all of that stuff. I noticed that my visits kept going up each time I did. I had my blog set as private for the past day, so it was definitely all me doing it. So, my Site Stats are all skewed from my repeated refreshing and revisiting.

I thought that it didn't track my own visits, and I can't find anywhere to make it stop. Any ideas?

The blog I need help with is occupymind.wordpress.com.

  2. Wow! It's been such a long time since we connected. On private blogs your stats are now being tracked due to a recent change made by Staff.

Private blogs, which can be viewed only by users chosen by the administrator, now track the page views of all of their users. Traditionally we have omitted the views attributed to a blog’s own users because stats were meant to reflect the activity of the general public. However, this meant that private blogs had no useful stats reports. This change will be especially useful for private blogs that have many users. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/08/18/watch-your-traffic-grow-with-sparklines/

  3. Ugh! That's what happens when I disappear from wordpress.com to work on self-hosted stuff and then come back. lol

    Thanks for the info!

  4. You're welcome. :)
