Skylark Custom header alternative

  1. Hi all,

    Just swtitched themes to Skylark and am having a slight problem with the custom header. I would like to include a header image but avoid the Skylark header template sizing of 920 width which sits under the menu.

    I would like the header to fit snugly on the left hand side of the menu where the site title 'Buffalo Press UK' currently sits. I know I can turn off the title, I just can't figure the CSS to replace it with an image.

    Any help would be great.

    Blog URL: http://buffalopress.wordpress.com/

    test custom header image: http://buffalopress.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/cropped-clipboard01.jpg

    Thanks all

    Lloyd

    The blog I need help with is buffalopress.wordpress.com.

  2. What you'll want to do is an image replacement technique. Here is an example you can start with:

    .site-title a {
    	background: url(http://buffalopress.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/cropped-clipboard01.jpg) no-repeat;
    	display: block;
    	width: 250px;
    	height: 162px;
    	text-align: left;
    	text-indent: -9999px;
    }
  3. That's great thanks - I have put in a simple test image and it now sits nicely behind the menu.

    It's still reverting to the Skylark custom header spec of 920xflexible, is there any way to allow the image to fill the space outside of that or is that a limitation of the template?

    Thanks!

  4. I would like to add a link to my header image or at least have the app store badge link show on my home page - can I get some advice here about that? the site is kingfisheraudio.net Thanks!

  5. That's great thank you.
