Slideshows No Longer Display

  1. Slideshows, which were previously working beautifully on my WordPress site, are no longer displaying. All I get is a big black box. This has only happened recently - around the time changes were made to WordPress.com.

The weird things is, the slideshows look fine on my Windows 7 machine, but they do not display on my Windows XP machine. We use this blog within my company. Most of the workstations use Windows XP. Is there a way we can fix this compatibility issue? My Internet Explorer is updated and I've cleared my cache and cookies. I'm looking for guidance... Thank you.

  2. I'm on windows XP and using Friefox 14.0.1 (I also have IE8). Will you please an active link starting with http:// to a post that has this slideshow issue?

  3. I can view the sildewhow in either browser - no problem.

  4. sildewhow = slideshow

  5. I'm not sure why it works for some people and not for others... My IT folks say it is a wordpress issue. Any help would be appreciated!

  6. If iot's a wordpress.com issue then how come I do not experience it?

  7. I just realized that you may not be aware that IE8 and IE9 browsers are supported. However, IE6 and IE7 browsers are not supported.

I am having the same issue. Slideshows worked fine until about a week ago. Now, I can't see them on my workstation using Windows 7 and IE8. They show up on my iPhone, iPad and in Firefox. Ironically, i can see the photos in the link provided above.

  12. I can confirm that the slideshows in that post are working correctly in both Firefox 14.0.1 and IE8.

    (1) How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.

    (2) Exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

The connection is via a T1 line. and there are probably some proxy jumps. but the fact is, it is working on Firefox (and Chrome and Safari) so if that were the issue, it wouldn't be showing.
