Smilies half working

  1. I am having trouble with posting smilies.
I have some working but others aren't. I have made sure that they are on that offical list. I have also unchecked, saved, checked and saved the convert emoticons box and the others still aren't working. What is going on?

  2. You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums, not here.

If you don't understand the difference, you may find this information helpful.

  3. If your blog is hosted here at wordpress.COM, please provide a link to the blog when asking questions.

I just did a test post on my test blog with all the smilies (using the first column codes) and it works fine for me: http://opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/2009/06/25/smilies/ .

  4. Sorry, I didn't understand about linking the blog. Here it is: http://cessy5.wordpress.com/

  5. Wait, I think I got it. Is it possibly because you need to be really careful about the spaces around it? Because I re-wrote the smilies and they seem to be ok now. Thanks for your help.

  6. Yes, you need to be precise about teh spacing or the smilies won't work at all.

  7. Ya see! Precisely why a pop-up smilie inserter would be a good thing! :-D

Even though I have a hot bookmark set up for it, I still get 'em wrong sometimes. And copy 'n paste can have weird results. :-x

  8. Make a text file with all the allowed smilies, keep it on your desktop, and use that to copy/paste. Test them in a draft post first.

  9. Good idea. Thanks.
