Some PNG images messed up

  1. Hi. Some of my PNG images are showing up as black blocks. E.g.

    http://simomaths.wordpress.com/2012/08/22/combinatorial-game-theory-x/

If you scroll down the page, some of the PNG images are clearly messed up, but if you click on them, they display correctly.

For example, this is messed up:

    http://simomaths.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/dominorow21.png?w=640

    But this is fine:

    http://simomaths.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/dominorow21.png

I can change the HTML code directly in all problematic articles, but it'd be a pain. Weird thing is, when I created that article last year, everything was fine.

Any one with similar experiences? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is simomaths.wordpress.com.

  2. I'm seeing the image correctly, in both browsers I use. But the problem probably has to do with the fact that it's a bitmap image. Better turn your images to RGB, even when the actual content is black&white only. See bottom of this Support doc:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/

  3. Thanks for your help. What about the link to the page I posted? Did all the images render correctly?

  4. Yes, in fact one of them made me think it wasn't working till I found out it was called "blue lin". They all work for me in FF.

  5. Thanks. Curiously, the images work on FF and Opera but fail on Chrome and IE. I wonder why. :/

  6. I decided to replace all the PNG images with RGB format. Seems to be the only way for now since I can't tell if it's the browser's problem or wordpress's.
