Someone is Spamming my Blog - not in comments, but as new posts.

  1. someone is posting on my blog, tamigurumi.com, but when I look at my account, I am the only listed user/administrator. They are posting spam on a daily basis, making it look like I'm posting it.
    Blog url: http://tamigurumi.wordpress.com/

  2. Disable Post By Email and change BOTH the blog password and your email password.

  3. I don't know why or how this happened and have flagged this thread for Staff attention.

Go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.

Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/
Go to your email program and change the password now to a very difficult one

Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.
Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.
Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

  4. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I'm listed as the only user, but "post by email" was enabled (a feature that I never use), so hopefully that will stop the insanity. I'll also provide Staff with the link contained in the spammers post.

Thanks again for your quick help!!

  5. Don't forget to change your passwords.

this happened to me, too, just now. but post by email was NOT enabled. they had to have hacked my password and signed in as me, unless there is a glitch somewhere...

  7. Then change your WordPress.com password and check your Users page to make sure you're the only user. Some times people sign in from public computers and forget to log out, or the computer is set to remember their password.
