soshitech.me Domain

  1. Why should I upgrade my domain to soshitech.me for twenty four dollars? What is the point? Thanks.

    - john

The blog I need help with is soshitech.com.

  2. I wouldn't use that one, actually. I'd use the .com.

It's terrific for brand recognition, makes you look big-league and professional, and is far easier for people to remember than http://soshitech.wordpress.com/ which anyone can tell is a free blog.

  3. I would not buy an .me domain. I would do as raincoaster suggests and buy a .com domain and domain mapping.

    Quoting raincoaster in another thread:

Overall, it makes you much more professional-looking, easier to find, makes it easier to move your site in the future should you care to, helps you keep your RSS subscribers if you Do move, is a powerful branding tool, and obscures the fact that you're not paying for your hosting. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/advantages-of-buying-a-domain?replies=27#post-715470

  4. @RainCoaster

I have already purchased the domain name Soshitech.com but my Dashboard adress remains soshitech.wordpress.com

Is there any way to change this or are there any lasting benefits by changing the dashboard adress?

    Thanks again.

  5. Have you followed through on all the steps? Also if you have then it can take up to 72 hours for the domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet.

    5. To activate your new domain, select the button next to the one you wish to activate and click Update Primary Domain. Your blog will be accessible from both of these domains; the Primary Domain is what actually appears as your domain within the address bar of web browsers.

  6. If you do not see your blog at the new domain immediately, please allow some time for the DNS changes to propagate.

  8. P.S. I'm on the west coast of Canada and the redirect is already operational here. You can watch the process at this link > http://www.whatsmydns.net/
Don't forget - the whole process can take up to 72 hours.

  9. I have followed all of the steps accordingly but my dashboard adress still remains soshitech.wordpress.com.

I may be missing something obvious here...I am still relatively new to WordPress.

  10. No you aren't missing anything at all. As I said above it can take up to 72 hours for this process to complete. If you have done this then I suggest you find something else to do rather than fretting about it, okay? :)

  11. my dashboard adress still remains soshitech.wordpress.com.

If you are referring to the address that appears on your address bar, this is normal. It will always be a __.wordpress.com address. Your visitors will only see the actual domain name.

  12. Edit: If you are referring to the address that appears on your address bar while using your dashboard [...]

  13. @TimeThief

Someone is a bit bitter now isn't she?

    Thanks @Airodyssey

I appreciate your very clear and straight forward answer without the extra links and what not.

  14. TT is a professional.

Speaking only for myself, you will be getting your answers from someone else from now on.

  15. @Raincoaster

    Thanks!
