Hello everybody. I have been blogging since November 2011. I've had a good time so far. But of late, I've been noticing a lot of spam comments (the count now is 70). It makes me feel insecure as I fear some pervert hacker sitting somewhere infront of his computer is laying his evil plans to hack my site or do me some harm. Why spam someone otherwise? Please help, my blog is very dear to me. Don't wanna lose it. Help!

Provided you respect and follow all security suggestions and do not make your log-in information accessible to anyone else your blog will not get hacked. All of our blogs are equipped with Askismet and when you mark spam comments as spam it learns. Also note that 70 spam comments per day is a very low number. http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/
Also from the tenor and tone of your post above I feel you may think your specific blog is being targeted by spammers. That's not likely to be true unless you do approve some spam comments. Over 80% of all sc-called comments submitted to blogs on this .wordpress.com site every day are spam. The majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam. There is not only robotic spam but there are also people hired to leave phony baloney spam comments on blogs so they can get their spammy links approved and posted. I recommend you scroll down this page to "5 things every blogger should know about spam" and read what's there. if you are careful about security then your blog won't be hacked. If you sign in to WordPress.com via a non-secure Internet connection, like a public Wi-Fi connection at your local coffee shop, your account may be more vulnerable to hijacking. Hi - Ever since I created a WordPress profile (my site is still private) I've been getting tons of Spam in my regularly inbox. This gives me the impression that WordPress sells email addresses or somehow makes them public to spammers. Any advice on how to minimize this problem? Thanks!!
Do you mean in your email? As far as I know, WP doesn't share our emails with anyone.
Thanks! Yeah, just in my regular email account, the amount of spam I get suddenly tripled around the same time I signed on.
WordPress.com does not sell email addresses to spammers. There are many ways to protect your WordPress.com blogs from unwanted comments: http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/
