squarespace to wordpress

  1. I have a couple blogs with wordpress.com and i am looking at moving my other blogs which are currently hosted at squarespace to wordpress. How can i move my sqaurespace blog to wordpress... i am more concerned about all the content and images then the actual navigation and theme. I jsut don't want to lose my Page Rank and content.

  2. You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you'll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don't understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It'll help people to answer your question.

    This is an automated message.

  3. If what you mean is that you want to move to blogs from squarespace to wordpress.com and not to wordpress.ORG self hosted blog. then read this http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/import-data-from-squarespace-into-wordpress?replies=5

Perhaps an import by RSS feeds may be possible.

Also note that any PageRank and backlinks earned by a blog at one URL belong to that URL. You cannot transfer PageRank and backlinks to a new URL.

Example: I had a wordpress.com blog at http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com and in December I purchased a domain and domain mapping from wordpress.com. The domain mapping seamlessly transfer the readers to the new URL for the posts. However, the backlinks and the PageRank are not transferable. My same blog which is now http://onecioolsitebloggingtips.com had to start from a 0/10 page rank and 0 backlinks again.

  4. The last link in my example above is b0rked. It should have been http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com

  5. Also, supposedly the squarespace ads supposedly have an export to wordpress feature, so perhaps you could make a compatable xml file that you can then inport to wordpress. (If there is no export to wordpress feature, please tell me, as I will then have something to compare those ads too (I haven't, and have no plans to, sign up for the free trial)).
