Static Home Front Page with "Home" Title Page

  1. I'm using the 2010 theme and a primary navigation menu with a static front page. I titled my static front page as "HOME" problem is when you view the website, the navigation menu has already a "HOME" tab on the navigation bar. In other words, I have a "HOME" tab navigation bar and a "Home" tile on the Static Front Page. I'm not sure if I'm illustrating this correctly; I did try to change the title but it ended up as the title of the navigation bar which was worse. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The blog I need help with is page-accounting.com.

  2. Hi. Just to make sure I understand: the word "Home" appears both on the menu and as the title of the page in question, and you want to eliminate or change one of them? Which one?

  3. Some themes provide a "Home" tab and it cannot be deleted. One can "hide" it but the the easiest way to deal with this is to create a custom menu.
    1. You create a custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

    2. You add the Parent pages you want to display and arrange them in the order you want.

    3. Then you add and drop and drag the subpages below the appropriate Parent pages, and when you have everything arranged in the menu that you want you save the menu.

    4. Go to the “theme location” module at upper left on the menu page. Select your custom menu name from the pulldown labeled “primary location.” Click the save button in that module.

    5. Refresh your browser so that it isn’t possibly pulling a cached page, and view see your new menu with Parent pages and dropdowns to sub-pages.

  4. Thank you so very much Timethief! I deleted the contents on the "HOME" tab navigation bar and added a new page as my "Home" page with the "HOME" tab as the Parent page. Then proceeded to have the "new Home" sub page as the static Front Page!
I should have thought about that... my brain wasn't working last night. Thanks again!

  5. I'm glad I helped you but I see something you ought to remove. You have posted an email, address in the conventional @ format. That means that email harvesting spam bots will be all over it like fleas on a dog. You have also posted a phone number - bad move - cold call phone centers will hit on it after bots harvest it. I suggest you use create a contact page and include it in your custom menu so you avoid the spam bots problem. See here > contact form

  6. Will do. Thanks so much for the heads up!

  7. You're welcome and best wishes with your blog. :)
