My teaching resources blog http://eslresources.wordpress.com has a number of .pdf files that people can download.
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to find out how many times the files have been downloaded and not just how many times the post that contains the document has been viewed (i have preview pics so people can decide if they want it before downloading)?

It should show up under "Clicks" I would think. I have some picture files and it shows when people click on them. It won't tell you if they saved it, though.
Yeah, they show up in clicks, but it's not pretty. There isn't a way to see cumulative numbers, just each day for the last 7. Plus, the filenames get cut off, so i can't see which ones they are without hovering over them (they all say "eslresources.files.wordpress.com/2007...").
Oh well.
Text file stored on your hard drive? That's what I've done in the past.
what do you mean, exactly? And shouldn't you be in bed by now? ;)
Yes, I should, and:
I would keep track of how many downloads on a text file, eg: 14+8+5+2+7=36 per week 1
And just add each week's total to that text file. It's a whole lot of work, but it does give you a great overall picture.

I'm trying to think of a download service that keeps track of download counts but nothing comes to mind.
