   Hi,
   I have a worpress.com blog (studentcreativemagazine.wordpress.com)
   and a couple of days ago I decided to place an ad via a company called adcast (on deviantart.com) (they use shinyads.com)

   anyway you pay x amount per how many clicks you would like to get to your site.

   My ad campaign was to get me 500 clicks.

   Today their figures showed for friday May 21,

   Impressions 64,472 Clicks 599

   Yet I made my landing page a particular page on my wordpress blog, and when I checked the stats for that day it reveals I had less than 100 page views in total (of all pages from all sources)
   further, the stats revealed that I had just 19 referrals from my deviantart/adcast advert.

   So who's stats are wrong - are they (the advertising site) deliberately misleading me?

   Or is there something about clicks that I am not understanding?

   Please can anyone help.

   By the way, stats here do not count robots, so it's quite possible that, yes, you are a victim of clickfraud.

   I agree - that display of stats (impressions and clicks) looks like a click fraud pattern. The following are not counted:

   * Visits from registered users of the blog when they are logged in.
   * Visits to uploaded documents and files
   * Visits from browsers that do not execute javascript or load images.
   * GoogleBot and other search engine spiders.
