Stats not updating

  1. I could be wrong, but a strong suspicion that my stats are not updating on my blog http://www.photolord.com

Anyone else seeing that, or is it just a misconception on my part?

The blog I need help with is photolord.com.

  2. The blog you specified at photolord.com does not appear to be hosted at WordPress.com.

  3. It is most definately hosted at WordPress.com

The WordPress site is http://www.mattgeorge.wordpress.com which is redirected to http://www.photolord.com

  4. Well, my blog stats are updating alright but in the wrong way! I was viewing two of my recent posts and the blog stat increased by one view for each, even though I was logged in as admin.

  5. Matt, you happen to be following me--thanks by the way, and when I go to your page to read you, it says at the top, sorry not here, or some such thing. Either my stats are off too, or absolutely no one is reading me anymore. I had 6 page views yesterday, and I bet they were all my husband. Good luck being found again!

  6. You're there now! Yay!

  7. Thanks for the feedback. Stats are working now, but it looks like they were offline for about 8 to 10 hours yesterday.

  8. My stats seem to stop working at least one day a week now. Reader also. Any fix yet?

  9. Again my stats seems to be off by at least a few hundred or more. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

  10. I should have a lot more hits on http://www.photolord.com for today.

My blog stats aren't loading at all. The hits on the main page have updated but the breakdown when I click on the links refuse to load. This has been going on since Friday.

I have not changed anything re my browser (IE9) for this to happen so it has to be a bug with WordPress. It is extremely frustrating sincemy Clustr Map reflects new hits to my blog but the icon keeps working and won't load them.

This is the second post I've made re the same issue. PLEASE ADVISE.

  12. @jacquireidpath
If you are using IE9 in compatibility mode then it renders as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. Disable compatibility node and then try again here > http://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/

  13. P.S. If you are using any browser add-ons or extensions disbale them and try again to access http://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/

  14. P.P.S. If those do not work then try using the https secure log-in

Thank you Timethief but I was using IE9 prior with no problems at all accessing my stats. I have not touched the compatibility mode within IE9, nor have I enabled any add-ons (I don't like them) so these things are not an issue. I was away fro three days so hadn't even accessed my blog on my home computer.

This has just happened out of the blue.

Ok, so my stats came back up but when I click on the graph it doesn't bring up the breakdown for that day..it used to do this and today it won't.

I didn't do anything different to my browser settings before I went away and now I can't see who has read what past yesterday.

  17. Is you computer automatically updating new versions of your software?
Is your browser also automatically updating?
Is your firewall protection and your security programming automatically updating?
Most of us will answer "yes" to three those questions so when it comes to operating systems, browsers and security programs - none are frozen in time. Which security program are you running and did you have a recent update?

@photolord if you used another counter such as statcounter or site meter you would be able to see if your WP stats are working or not. But, you have to bear in mind that WP don't show the stats for bots, not even for Googlebot, whereas statcounter and site Meter do. But you would get an idea as to whether you actually are getting 'real' hits, and whether or not your WP stats are working or frozen.

  19. @photlord
I;m with therattlingdoor on this. Sitemeter, Statcounter, wordpress stats and all the others (getclicky, whosamungus, clusrtrmaps, feedjit, etc.) will never agree. Each one of them decides how and what they will count as a hit. Some count page views and some count unique visitors. Some include visits by bots and browsers without Javascript enabled and some don't. Therefore, use any of the stats counters only as a general guide to hits.

Understand that an application that is not running on the same servers your blog is on is going to be susceptible to wild fluctuations. This is because all hits have to be transferred over the internet to different servers, and there are literally thousands of things that can go wrong between the server your blog is on and the server at the stats place. Also be aware of the possibility that the software or hardware at the stats place may be broken and not recording, or counting things as intended.

Yes to all three. My computer has only just completed updates which wouldn't apply, unless there were more while I was away. I know the potential for mechanical problems is huge with the numbers on WP, it was just unusual for this action to be working one day and not the next.

I'll keep an eye on it and see if the graph thing sorts itself out. It highlights yellow but won't reveal. I had a few hits that day and I want to know what people were reading (since they were full length articles).

Thanks for your suggestions though timelord.

    ..sorry..timethief (oops)

  22. When I logged in this morning I had 18 hits. It's not changed all day, and yet I know there have been hits on the site throughout the day. I haven't changed anything at all. Is there a general problem with the facility?

  23. No there is no "general problem" that I'm aware of at all. This issue seems to affect only a few bloggers.

  24. @coypu
I suggest you try using the https secure log-in
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
That link for you is https://castelsarrasin.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

  25. Is there anything I can do then? I've never had it before and as I say I changed nothing.

  26. See above please, as we were typing simultaneously.

  27. I've done that and the stats have now changed marginally to record hits made in the last few minutes. Does that mean that any hits that have been made during the time it wasn't working will not now be recorded? I'd kind of hoped that they would be stored and would come through once it was up and running again.

  28. I would not worry about this and here is why. The fact you had a browser issue re: viewing the stats does not in any way shape of form have an effect on the page views being recorded by the software. I expect that the stats are cached and will rectify over time. However, I flagged this thread so Staff will check your stats for you when they can.

  29. Thanks so much for your help on this, I really appreciate it.

  30. You're welcome and not to worry as no stats will be lost.
