stats on home page

  1. If someone cites an article but incorrectly links to the blog home page (instead of the specific article), how does that page view appear in the stats ?

  2. Well, it would be a page view on your graph. If they click thru into the post, then you would get credit for it.

*chuckle* I do hope you've written a post saying where to go for the Post. :)

  3. Thanks drmike. That is crystal clear now.

The issue of redirecting any readers to the 'correct' link might be a good subject in its own right :-)

  4. A polite email to the site in question may be helpful. You may want to drop a hint saying that you've received complaints from visitors about the incorrect link.

If the other site allows comments, a polite comment there may also be in order.

I had a site with over 15k broken URLs in Google and Yahoo once. Lots of fun.

    Good luck,
    -drmike
