If I have a blog called testblog.wordpress.com, and I then purchase subdomain mapping to map my subdoamin blog.mysite.com to testblog.wordpress.com, what is that status of the address testblog.wordpress.com after this subdomain mapping?
Does the original wp address still work? My assumption is 'yes', but I don't really know.

On WordPress.com, you can use a subdomain of a domain that you already own as your blog’s domain. For instance, if you already have a website up at example1.com, and your WordPress.com blog is at example2.wordpress.com, you can put your blog in a subdomain of that website, such as blog.example1.com. This is called Domain Mapping. Your old WordPress.com address will still work, but we will automatically redirect traffic from your old address to your new one. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/
