Sticky does not work on Quentin

  1. Hello,

I have set the setting to 'sticky' on a post - say Post A - but this does not work.

Each time a new post is published on a date later than Post A, say Post B, it is post B that appears first.

Currently I manage this by going back and resetting the date of Post A to a later date / time

An example of a post with the sticky is http://wovensouls.wordpress.com/category/art-kaleidoscope/ which acts like a 'contents' page

Am I misunderstanding the meaning of 'sticky' or is it not working?

Thanks for your help in advance

The blog I need help with is wovensouls.wordpress.com.

"Stickiness" does not apply to categories. It only applies to the page that displays your most recent posts. By default, that would be your front page, but it looks like you set a static front page.

  3. Thanks airodyssey,

But the sticky is applied to the post titled "glimpses of culture" and even though that is a post - it does not work.

    thanks again

Where does it not work? Please show me exactly where (http://...) you believe the post should "stick".

In the meantime, don't forget: as I said earlier, sticky posts do not apply to category pages.

  5. Hello again

    thanks

  6. You have no main "posts" page set at settings > reading. The main "posts" page, which shows your latest posts listed in reverse chronological order (newest at top), is where the "sticky" post will show up. It will not show up on categories pages, archives pages, tags pages, static pages such as "introduction," and it will not show up as a "sticky" on other single-post pages such as http://wovensouls.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/culture-kaleidoscope/ .

  7. Go here, http://medicinewheel.wordpress.com/ , and look at the top post. That is a sticky post in Quentin. The page you are looking at is the "posts" page which I have set to show the 10 most recent posts on that test blog.

  8. Thanks sacredpath ............I see why its not working.

So since i have 4 subjects I want to write about, and in each subject the first 'sticky' post should act like the contents page of a book through which i link to other articles, what would be the best way to organise this in Quentin?

Currently I've used "categories' to define the subjects and then within each there are posts.

    Thanks again

The only way to do this is use one of the themes that display category descriptions. See here:
