sticky slider help

  1. Okay, so Apologizes in advance if this question is redundant -- I tried to figure this out by reading the related threads and I'm still lost.

I want to create the feature image slider on my home page just like the demo shows. I understand that I need to create posts that are stickied with a feature image. So I did that... but nothing is displaying...

I'm new to WordPress.com and am totally stumped. Thanks in advance for any help.

The blog I need help with is harmonyjewellers.wordpress.com.

  2. The post slider automatically shows up, once you set the 888 pixels wide and 355 pixels in height as a featured image and designate it as a sticky post.

The dimensions of all featured images for the slider must be exact. But there's more on featured images so scroll down to "Forever" http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/08/23/featured-images/

  3. Hi timethief,

    Thanks for the quick response...

I've played around with it a bit and now if you click on "News", my first sticky feature image post works but the other doesn't. Also not clear on why it displays under "News" and not on my Home page.

  4. Also (sorry if this is a stupid question), where do I set the dimensions? Sorrrry.

  5. These are the accepted file types for images:
    .jpg/.jpeg
    .gif
    .png

Prior to uploading any image into your blog, regardless if it’s a header image, a featured image, an image in a post or page, in a Post format (Gallery or Image), an image for sidebar display in an image widget or a text widget, you can optimize and re-size it in either a desktop image editing software or online image editing software to fit the space you intend to use it in. By undertaking proper image preparation first you will get the best image quality, won't be wasting your media storage space, and won't be wasting your time troubleshooting.

  6. The slider will appear on the front page of the blog only http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts
