hi, this may sound like a weird question, but my avatar is usually black on white, but when it comes up on comments on my blog (on this page: http://pythonessandbee.wordpress.com/guest-book/) the background is green, can anyone help me change it back to white?

That's feature of the Ari theme. It's a means of highlighting or differentiating the replies in comments that are posted by the blog author from the comments made by others. You will need to purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/ and do the required CSS editing to make that color change http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
