stripping gridspace

  1. I want to strip down "gridspace" to its minimum, take away every line on both main page and posts. This far, I´ve managed to take away one, but there is still a few there. How do I do that?
    And, I would also like to take away the "comment" opportunity, is that possible, and how do I do that?
    Finally, there is a little "like" box that I don´t want there -any suggestions how to get rid of it?
    Grateful for your help, Olivia

    The blog I need help with is blikblikblik.com.

  2. And, I would also like to take away the "comment" opportunity, is that possible, and how do I do that?

    This page > Settings > Discussion
    Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/

    We can also override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/

    Note: By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

    You go to Pages > All Pages, hover over the page title, click Quick Edit, uncheck the option "Allow Comments", click Update. That's all. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/remove-comments-section-and-posting-format?replies=6

    Finally, there is a little "like" box that I don´t want there -any suggestions how to get rid of it?

  3. Not being able to see your site since it is set to private, I'm shooting a little in the dark on this. Are you talking about the border lines above the posts, and the lines above and below the share/like sections at the bottom of the posts? If so, then the following should do it for you.

    This gets rid of all the post related lines and the line in the footer at the bottom:

    h1.page-title, h1.entry-title, div.sharedaddy div.sd-block, article .entry-meta, article, #site-intro, #site-generator {
    border: none !important;
    }

    This gets rid of the borders at the top of the footer widgets:

    #colophon aside.widget {
    border: none !important;
    }

    This gets rid of the lines in the widgets in the sidebar:

    #secondary .widget, #access, #branding hgroup {
    border: medium none;
    }

    If I missed anything, or if I misunderstood "lines" please let me know.

  4. I want to strip down "gridspace" to its minimum, take away every line on both main page and posts.

    If you want to remove the border (or shadow in this case) from the main content area, add this too:

    #page {
    	box-shadow: none;
    }
  5. Finally, there is a little "like" box that I don´t want there -any suggestions how to get rid of it?

    If you meant the social media icons at the top right of the Gridspace theme, note that those can be controlled by adjusting the menu at Appearance → Menus → Top Menu. See http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/gridspace/ for more details.

  6. Thank you so much all of you, that was exactly what I was looking for!
    Maybe you could help me with another thing?
    When I am doing a page, I would like the page name only to appear in the menu, not like a head line on the page. Hope my question makes sense!
    And also: if I dont post anything, this scentense appears when you enter the main page:
    "Nothing Found It seems we can't find what you're looking for. Perhaps searching can help" How can I get rid of that?
    Thanks again!

  7. When I am doing a page, I would like the page name only to appear in the menu, not like a head line on the page.

    Try adding this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor:

    .entry-title {
    	display: none;
    }

    If you also want to adjust the padding above posts, add this:

    article {
    	padding-top: 60px;
    }

    Adjust the 60px value as needed.

  8. And also: if I dont post anything, this scentense appears when you enter the main page:
    "Nothing Found It seems we can't find what you're looking for. Perhaps searching can help" How can I get rid of that?

    That's expected. I happens when you haven't published any posts or assigned a page as the front page. See this help page:

  9. Hello again, and thanks for your help!
    I have another question regarding padding on my pages. I have one page with pictures, and some other only with text. I want them to be aligned with the menu on the left. I figured out that this changed the padding on my page:
    article {
    padding-top: 60px;
    }
    Problem here is that the pictures are now aligned, but the text on the other pages are now way to high in relation the the menu. How do I change that on the specific pages?

  10. Instead of targeting specific pages for something like that, try adding this:

    .entry-content {
    	overflow:hidden;
    }

    And then adjusting the padding top value for the "article" selector to be slightly bigger until all of the content falls where you want.
