stumbleupon, facebook, twitter button with counter on free wordpress blog.

  1. Is this possible to add stumbleupon, facebook, twitter button with counter on free wordpress blog? If yes, Please direct me in detail.

    Regards

The blog I need help with is bestsocialsubmission.wordpress.com.

  2. It is possible. Go to your Dashboard->Settings->Sharing and add the buttons you want into the Active Sharing box. Note that the counters are inaccurate. That's simply the nature of the beast.

  3. I've done this but the share buttons are only showing up on my posts - not my main blog page. Is this because of the theme I'm using? I've tried to find the Plugins area to create the share button but that seems to be missing as well!

  4. Sharing - Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble showing the sharing buttons on your blog, please check the following:
I can’t see the buttons on the front page.
Make sure to select “Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results” for “Show buttons on” setting.

I've tried to find the Plugins area to create the share button but that seems to be missing as well!

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot intsall plugins, upload third-party themes or edit templates or themes. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

Plugins are for WordPress.org installs only. There is no upgrade you can purchase from WordPress.com that changes anything stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ and restated again here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/#important-notes-before-upgrading and restated again here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

On the bottom of your Admin page you will find a link to the Learn WordPress.com blogging Tutorial prepared by Staff. http://learn.wordpress.com/
The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also on the bottom of your Admin page. The searchbox there provides results from both the support docs and from forum threads.

  6. Also please read this so you are aware of the differences between Pages for static content that rarely changes and Posts. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

  7. @Timethief - I have that option chosen but thanks anyway! I even tried putting some HTML in the Text widget but when I click on the link that the HTML created, it takes me to an external share page instead of just bringing up share options on my blog. :(

  8. Ahh, so it's a no go on plugins for the free blog, phooey!

  9. You are using a theme that truncates the post on the front page. In my understanding this will NEVER show your share buttons on the front page, because they go at the bottom of the posts.

  10. I was really liking WordPress too but I love that I can edit HTML on Blogger

  11. @raincoaster
You're right. This theme is not designed to display full posts on the front page.

    @cyberchica702
Please read the theme description here > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/ideation-and-intent/ and then choose another theme.

  12. You can do that with a WordPress.ORG blog but not .com.

  13. So...bottom line - with the .COM site I will ONLY be able to have the share buttons at the bottom of my posts and not anywhere else on my blog? I guess I have to decide if it's worth it to upgrade...

  14. It depends on the theme you choose to use. I deliberately choose not to display any sharing buttons on the front pages post entries on my blogs. I want people to actually read the full posts and even comment prior to clicking any buttons.

  15. I'll give it a try for a while. I've found a theme I like that displays full posts, I'll check that out.

  16. @raincoasters Thanks for replies, this is my blog http://bestanimatedgifs.wordpress.com/

I do not want those buttons given by wordpress by default. Those are sharing buttons. but I am looking for an answer for like fblike, retweet and stumbleupon with counter or bubble counter option. Is this possible?

    Regards

  17. No.
