   I'd like to submit my site to google webmaster for verification. But being an absolute non-techie, I am totally unable to understand any of the Recommended or Alternate methods that it suggests. My queries on Googles various methods of site verification are:

   1. It asks me to upload an html file to my website (www.bhavenjani.wordpress.com). HOW do I upload a file? (I mean, a new post allows me to type text or attach an image/audio/view), how do I upload a FILE?

   2. Add a meta tag to your site's home page: Google gives me a code and asks me to put it on my home page. I have no idea how to do that. Any instructions would be appreciated:)

   Pls pls pls provide detailed steps for any of the above methods so that I can submit my site to Google.

   These are the instructions that WordPress.com bloggers must use and no others > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

   Your blog is enabled with just about everything you need to be super-searchable. This includes an XML sitemap, which you can access at yourblogname.wordpress.com/sitemap.xml.

   No need to do anything extra on your end. The sitemap file included with your blog is available to every search engine that supports the protocol, including Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Ask.com, and others. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines

   hey timethief, thats a prompt and extremely useful response. I just followed the steps on http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/ and updated the meta-tag on my site. Awesome. Thanks n cheers, Bhaven

   Though I have another query, which is actually the core problem.

   When I search google by my name (Bhaven Jani), it turns up every damn thing on the net where I am registered (including LinkedIn, which I haven't logged into for several years), but it just doesn't turn up my wordpress site (www.bhavenjani.wordpress.com). I am surprised and shocked that my own blog doesn't turn up in google when I search using my name. How can this be possible? Ideally my blog should be the first thing on the search results. How do I address this problem?
