Super FRUSTRATED: Page Jumps

  1. Hey Folks,

Admittedly I am not the most tech savvy person on the block. In fact, maybe I'm the least tech savvy person. But I swear I have spent DAYS trying to figure out how to allow readers to easily jump from one post to the next on my blog without having to scroll down the page. I see it on other people's blog sites and I cannot figure it out. I've read the Pagination, Next Page and Page Jump support pages. Still it doesn't work. I want something that is permanent so I don't have to enter a code in every time I do a new post. Please help me. I'm at my wits end! Thanks!

The blog I need help with is thesocialitedesign.com.

  2. You could use the More Tag to shorten your Posts on the front page so only a short section of a Post is displayed so visitors don't need to scroll through the full length of every Post on the front page.

You could also use the Latest Posts Widget in the sidebar to show the titles of the last few Posts.

  3. There are instructions here in the support documentation. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/page-jumps/

If you want page jumps then you have to use the HTML editor and code them into each post you want them in. there is no automatic feature to do this with.

If you cannot comprehend the instruction in support documentation then these may be better for you. Links to specific points on a page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/page-jumps/

  4. I also note that the Elegant Grunge theme supplies links to « Older Entries so I do not know why you are doing this at all. I would place a Recent Posts widget in the sidebar and and Archives Widget and Categories Widget.

  5. Thanks for your responses. I've tried. I want it to look like this person's blog. She has it where there is a tab going from one to the next. I asked how she did it and she's not sure. Says it happens automatically every time she submits a new post to her blog. If you check out her blog, you'll see at the top (underneath her photo) "So How Was Your Valentine?" And "CIAA Is Here" Both have arrows leading to the next post. How can I do that?

  6. If this feature is not among the features your theme provides then in order to get it you must change themes and use the same theme she is using which is called Twenty Ten.

  7. Gotcha. Thanks a bunch.

  8. You're welcome and best wishes with this learning curve. :)

  9. Well this needs to be a mighty HUGE curve! BTW, is there a link on 'share' buttons? One day I will be smart. ;-)

  10. Yes and you can locate the instructions it in the support documentation. :)
