    I'm just getting started on my blog- I've only put up an introductory post and I'm planning to launch it a bit later after I have some more content. But, in the mean time of writing my content, I'd just like to get a feel for what you do to maintain your blog. I know that every blog is different, but it's helpful to get an idea of what others do and how successful they view it/how time consuming it is.

    So here are my questions:
    1. How many words are your posts typically? Or do you have a big variance between posts? Similarly, is a particular length a turn-off for reading for you?
    2. How frequently do you post, and what do you feel is optimal (both for your energy and time as well as for readers)?
    3. How many hours/week do you spend on your blog?
    4. Do you schedule your posts? Do you every stray from it?

    I think that's all... I know I can't base my own work and time on what other people say, but I'm just trying to get a grasp of what I can expect to get myself into :)

    Thanks!

    The blog I need help with is defendimmunity.wordpress.com.

    Truthfully I wouldn't worry about it;
    just post whatever you want, whenever you want;
    the more you love what you do, the more it will come through in what you post;
    all the best and Happy New Year :)

    1 - varies - over 200. For me white space is more important than length - if it is well written I will read longer posts, but single space paras that go on for miles usually don't keep my attention.
    2. I am a daily poster which is integral to my goal, so daily is optimal for me.
    3. Too many! I am trying to reduce it to a couple of hours a day now that I have the main structure.
    4. I write first thing in the morning, read blogs I am following, and then look at forums. I never stray from it (unless I do more like decide to change my theme)

    After all of this I agree with dovesgold - you can shape it anyway that works for you.

    1. Typical post, for now, is over 1000 words though my most recent post is below that.
    2. For now, I'm posting every day. I'll see whether my momentum runs out before my ideas for things to say.
    3. I spend maybe an hour or two writing and networking.
    4.I don't have a rigid schedule. Whenever I get around to popping the post online is good enough.
