switching from godaddy to wordpress
-
I have a blog on wordpress that I love. I have another website hosted by godaddy and I want that one to be a wordpress blog as well. I see that I can upload wordpress through godaddy, or map it over to wordpress, but I want to completely cancel my godaddy and start up fresh with wordpress. I see others’ keep their godaddy domain registration and I am wondering why. Why don’t I just cancel godaddy and start anew with wordpress and avoid the domain registration fees on godaddy? Am I missing something? My current wordpress blog only costs me the upgrade for the name and I am not paying registration fees on that one.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please see here so you understand what’s involved when it comes to changing domain registrars. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#transfer-to-another-registrar

Just so I have this clear. When I change domain registrars from Godaddy to WordPress, I will now pay the $12 mapping, but not the $5 registration since it is already registered via godaddy? Or does it all transfer, so I pay the $17 wordpress upgrade for registration and mapping and no longer have an account with godaddy? I am obviously having a difficult time grasping what is probably a simple concept.
Part of my confusion is a forum posting saying that you have to keep your godaddy account for the domain registration. All I pay for my other wordpress blog is the $17 mapping/registration since I created that blog from scratch in wordpress.
