Tags & Categories with same Name

  1. I read in a now closed thread that you should NOT use the same term as a Category and as a Tag. With my Delicious Menu them from Woo Themes, the featured areas work on Tags but not Categories.

So if I want to feature, for example, the "Diary" category, then those posts also need a "Diary" (or something like it) Tag. Is this a problem?

I've noticed that if you use the same term as a Tag first, the Category slug gets modified, like to "Diary-XYZ" or something. But it seems like using the Category first and then similar Tag name doesn't cause any issues I can see.

Am I missing something? Should I change the repeated names?

    Thank You!

  2. That really won't be much of a problem. Tags and categories are actually the same, think of categories as featured tags. They can have the same name, but their link slugs will be "name" and "name-2" to avoid duplication.

I'm not sure how that will impact the theme, so in this case, I recommend contacting the developer directly for help: http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/delicious-magazine

For future reference, there will be a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but the theme needs to be active and you need to be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it.
