   Hello....
   Im fairly new to blogging and plan on using my blog for monetary gain..My question is simply whether it is illegal to use pictures from others blogs?

   The best bet would be to review the following, http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/ and if that doesn't answer your questions, then maybe contact support with precise details of what you are planning to do so they can tell you whether what you are doing will be against the terms of service or not. http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

   You always need permission from the copyright holder of the image unless the image is clearly in the public domain. I get blogs whacked regularly by filing DMCA violation notices with the blog's web host for using my images.

   All I can say personally is that if anyone "stole" one of my photos or posts for that matter I would be reporting it and getting them closed down.

   I agree with thesacredpath and thehappysnapper. No one should copy a photo or a post without permission. If you ask the owner of the blog if you can copy whatever item it is you wish to copy it's up to them if they give you permission or not. Perhaps you should try a stock photo site where you can buy photos, but even these stipulate where and how you can use them and charge accordingly.
